History

Allocchio Bacchini AC-14

Supplied to Italian Royal Army from 1940 and Royal Navy, starting from the early months of 1941, was built by the Allocchio Bacchini Milan based on a 1939 project for general use in mobile and fixed ground services. The AC-14 was also used by the Third Reich Kriegsmarine.. The equipment for the German Army were equipped with the knob plates written in broken German language ( "Oszillator" instead of "TG"; "Hopfhorer" instead of "Kopfhörer."). After the second world war AC-16 remained in Italian Army service for some years.

Technology
Range covered from 75 KHz to 20 MHz divided into 8 bands.
Single-conversion superheterodyne. The values of intermediate frequency are three: 65, 380 or 590 KHz depending on the band selected :IF 590 KHz for I, IV and VII bands ; 380 KHz for V and VI bands ; 65 KHz for the higher wavelengths VIII band.

The pairs of intermediate frequency transformers are switched along with the drum gear for band selection. This band selector is controlled by a gear jointly with the tuning drum. Since the possible values of IF are three then also the number of the CW oscillators must be three selected that by two sections of IF transformer switch.
The tuning mechanics, particularly complex, was designed and build for this specific receiver directly by Allocchio Bacchini Milan Italy .
Following the Third Reich construction philosophy was employed only one type of valve: 6 x ECH3 1 except for the GR150. The weight is about 18 kg
Demodulation in AM and CW. BF output for headphones or external speaker.
External power supply for AC or 6VDC by dynamotor produced by Magneti Marelli in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan). The power supply is equipped by the valve rectifier 5Y3G
